Dear Levante Living Team Members,
I want to take this opportunity to express sincere appreciation to each of you for your diligence, work ethic, and most of all your ongoing care to residents and fellow team members during this challenging time. It’s been incredibly inspiring to see how the Levante team has continued to thrive this past year, despite some big obstacles. As you know, we have been working alongside you, taking COVID-19 preventive measures to help keep you, our entire team, and our residents safe. We have worked under some uncertain and often stressful conditions, and you have helped make it possible for us to continue our essential operations. Together, we’ve done an amazing job throughout the pandemic. Way to go Team Levante!
With the fall and winter months upon us and the rise of more serious variants like Delta and Lambda, COVID-19 continues to pose a significant risk to our communities. For this reason, along with other senior living care providers like Revera, Chartwell, Sienna and Extendicare, Levante is announcing today that we are making COVID-19 vaccination mandatory for all its team members.
As of October 12, 2021, all Levante Living team members will need to provide proof of full vaccination. Those who are unable to do so will be placed on an unpaid leave of absence. Vaccination will also be required for all new hires, students, agency personnel and volunteers. This new policy will go a long way toward protecting the people we care for, as well as our co-workers and visiting friends and family members.
Here are some things to remember about the COVID-19 vaccination:
• Over 4 billion people worldwide have received vaccinations. They are safe, highly effective and significantly reduce the risk of serious illness and hospitalization.
• Each Levante Executive Director has removed barriers to vaccination and will continue to provide support to their frontline staff including education, appointment booking and paid time off for vaccination.
• 90% of all Levante Living team members are already vaccinated, so we don’t anticipate this policy to impact staffing levels.
• If you would like more information about getting the vaccine or have questions, please reach out to your Executive Director.
Making this policy is one we have thought deeply about. Following our principles of putting the health and safety of our residents, team and family members first, we are confident this is the right approach.
Thank you for your collective efforts to keep everyone safe and healthy at your residence.
