We offer it here as a reference for the three main kinds of senior living investment opportunities that exist in Ontario.

Independent Living (IL)

-No major health issues
-Can live well on their own
-Do not need assistance with daily living tasks such as: grooming, personal care, eating, transportation, housekeeping
-Services offered at IL home may include home/lawn maintenance, housekeeping, transportation, meal preparation, spa/hair salon
-Community activities may be offered
-Full kitchens available in most suites/units.

Assisted Living (ASL)

-Can reside in their own place, but need or would like help to handle daily living tasks such as grooming, bathing housekeeping, medication assistance, meal preparation and transportation
-Round the clock care can be provided in many ASL homes
-Meals are mostly taken in the main dining room with limited kitchen space available in individual suites/units
-Community activities, outings and enrichment offered

Long Term Care (LTC)

-Designed to meet the needs of seniors who need extra care and cannot live on their own
-Round the clock care is available
-Help with daily tasks such as grooming, bathing, housekeeping, medication, meal preparation, and eating assistance as well as community activities are offered
-Subsidized by the Ontario government LTC program.
-Availability can be extremely limited and potential residents are likely to be put on a variable waitlist
